Mervyn Cirota
National Chairperson
| Mervyn Cirota, Independent Democrats National Chairperson started
his career in politics the mid 70’s. He joined the ID in 2006 and was
appointed as the Gauteng Regional Director, a post he held until after
the 2006 elections. A trained Attorney, who also holds a Bachelors Degree in Commerce, Cirota started practicing as an Attorney in the 80’s, and has been a practicing attorney for 27 years. |

| Cirota has a passion for the people and was actively
involved in the wellbeing of his community. In the 90’s Cirota was
elected as chairperson of the Bramley Community Police Forum, a
position he held for 9 years. In 2000 he was elected as a councillor for the City of Johannesburg, a position he still holds. He also represents the ID in the City’s Safety and Finance Committees. He was elected as National Chairperson of the ID in July 2007. |
