ID PARLIAMENTRY LEADER JOE MC GLUWA ACCUSES ANC WOMEN’S LEAGUE PRESIDENT OF ‘DOUBLE STANDARDS’

28 SEPTEMBER 2010-Joe Mc Gluwa says the ANCWL President is ‘attempting to gain political mileage on the back of the bruised Julius Malema by using double standards.’

Joe Mc Gluwa says the ANCWL President is ‘attempting to gain political mileage on the back of the bruised Julius Malema by using double standards.’

Mc Gluwa was responding to Motshekga’s criticism of Malema during the ANC’s NGC in Durban over his sexist comments months ago when he claimed that ID leader Patricia de Lille was not a ‘real woman’ and called DA leader Helen Zille a ‘racist little girl’.

‘Whilst we welcome the comments made by Motshekga and congratulate her for taking a principled stand on issues of gender sensitivity, Motshekga should live by her own advice and principles. Motshkega, in a veiled attack on Mosiuoa Lekota and Mluleki George when they left the ANC said ‘Now that the dogs are leaving, there will be peace and we will be stronger. The dogs arrived in the ANC and they have left,’ says Mc Gluwa.

‘It seems now that Malema is no longer the ‘flavour of the month’ political opportunists in the ANC are scrambling for every opportunity to place themselves at the front of the queue to attack Malema and score points for themselves. Given that President Zuma is considering a cabinet re-shuffle, Basic Education Minister Motshekga’s comments come as no surprise,’ Mc Gluwa says.

‘If Motshekga was sincere about gender sensitivity, why has she taken so long to criticise Malema?’ asked McGluwa.
