ID President Patricia de Lille has issued a message for National
Women's Day this Saturday, appealing to South African women 'to
remember the vision and ideals of the struggle and to draw strength
from the role women played in overthrowing the Apartheid system.
'We have new challenges now and we as women must not take a back seat
in dealing with them. Unemployment, poverty and violence all affect
women the most and we need to be at the forefront of dealing with these
massive challenges,' says Ms De Lille.
'We also need to remember the values that we fought for and protect the
fundamental rights we have gained. When we talk about protecting the
Constitution we need to remember that the Constitution is the document
that also outlines and upholds the rights of women,' De Lille
says.
