ID'S PATRICIA DE LILLE -'ID IS NOT SURPRISED BY LATEST ARMS DEAL ALLEGATIONS'
13H30, 10 AUGUST 2008- ID President Patricia de Lille says 'the ID is not surprised by the latest allegations that the South African government has not penalised arms company MAN Ferrostaal for failing to deliver on its promised offsets for its share in the multi-billion rand arms deal.
ID President Patricia de Lille says 'the ID is not surprised by the
latest allegations that the South African government has not penalised
arms company MAN Ferrostaal for failing to deliver on its promised
offsets for its share in the multi-billion rand arms deal.
'Many of these allegations are contained in the De Lille Dossier and
the ID has been vindicated,' Ms De Lille says.
The De Lille Dossier, which was tabled in Parliament in September 1999,
has already led to the successful prosecution of Tony Yengeni and
Schabir Shaik as well as charges being brought against ANC President
Jacob Zuma.
'It is the failure of government to investigate these allegations that
has led to the Sunday Times conducting an investigation of its own,'
says De Lille.
'The ID and the South African public want to know the truth behind the
arms deal corruption because it diverted billions of rand from the
poor.'
