ID WESTERN CAPE -FORMALCHARGES LAYED AGAINST ANC WESTERN CAPE- LETTER TO THE IEC
25 FEBRUARY 2009-ACTION TO BE TAKEN AGAINST ANC CLLR GORDON PHEIFFER (STELLENBOSCH MUNICIPALITY) Ward: 2 / VD: 98430251 (La Motte Hall - Franshoek)
Dear Mr.
Sampson,
ACTION TO BE TAKEN AGAINST ANC CLLR GORDON PHEIFFER (STELLENBOSCH MUNICIPALITY)
Ward: 2 / VD: 98430251 (La Motte Hall - Franshoek)
On Monday evening, ANC Cllr Gordon Pheiffer who is also the Speaker of
the Stellenbosch Municipality purposefully disrupted an ID meeting in
Franschhoek. Mr. Pheiffer locked the doors to a hall booked by the
Independent Democrats and drove away with the keys. The La Motte
Bosbou Community in Franshoek was to be addressed by ID President,
Patricia de Lille and the Western Cape Leadership.
The ID is concerned by the tactics used by Mr Pheiffer, as this is
nothing other than political interference and intolerance on behalf of
the ANC.
This is the type of ANC we are dealing with- who is not tolerant of
other political parties to campaign for the 22 April 2009 elections.
We will not stand by idly and accept such blatant intimidation which
is completely unacceptable.
The Independent Democrats in the Western Cape request that the
Electoral Commission immediately investigate this intolerant behaviour
of the ANC Western Cape.
The ID gives the Commission the commitment that we will preach and
teach tolerance to our members.
Regards,
Rodney Lentit
