ID President Patricia De Lille says that she `accepts the choice of
South African voters in the 2009 elections.’
`The ID came about because of the choice of voters and we are grateful that thousands of them have made that choice again,’ De Lille says.
`We are starting to see the stabilisation of our democracy and a sifting process has now begun, with the parties that remain still being of relevance to the electorate,’ says De Lille.
`The Independent Democrats would like to congratulate the ANC, DA and COPE on their performance’.
Noting media speculation about a possible coalition in the Western Cape, Ms De Lille says that `the DA has not approached us but if and when they do we will consider what they have to offer,’ says the ID Leader.
The Independent Democrats has won 4 seats in the National Assembly, 2 seats in the Western Cape Legislature, a further 2 in the Northern Cape and 1 seat in the Gauteng Provincial Legislature.
