Donation by ID to Children Hospital is a demonstration of patriotism
2004-08-18. The Independent Democrats today demonstrated their patriotism and their commitment to the delivery of health-care by donating R2 000 to the Red Cross Children Hospital Trust.
The ID visit, led by the party leader, Patricia de Lille, accompanied
by ID MPs, Avril Harding and Florence Batyi, was aimed at raising the
morale of the doctors and the nurses who are finding it increasingly
difficult to cope because of manpower shortages caused by a number of
reasons.
"Our visit was prompted by reports in the media publicising the shortage of doctors and nurses facing many of our public hospitals. Our health-care workers work under strenuous conditions. They deserve all our support; not only financial but moral - to continue despite their working conditions. People tend to only think about the nurses and the staff when they themselves end up in hospital," said Patricia de Lille.
