ID Rock the Vote
2004-03-25. We are celebrating the Independent Democrats first anniversary on the weekend in grand style. It is one year since Patricia de Lille's announced the formation of the ID in Cape Town, March 2003. The Leader of the Independent Democrats, Patricia de Lille, and Western Cape Premier Candidate Advocate Lennit Max will lead 3000 members to the Good Hope Centre this Saturday morning the 27th March. The procession brings together those South Africans who share the ID's positive vision for the future, who have been searching for a fresh, new political voice in our democracy.
"This has been an exciting year in which the ID has had to overcome
many challenges to become a positive voice for change in our country,
"Patricia de Lille said. "I am extremely proud of the progress we have
made over this past year and the overwhelming support that South
Africans from all walks of life have shown towards the Independent
Democrats. My decision to start the Independent Democrats a year ago
has been affirmed throughout the country as shown by the phenomenal
growth in our membership of over 60 000 people. Our members and
supporters cut across the traditional political divides and the ID is
fast becoming the inclusive home for South Africans who are determined
to bridge the divides of our nation. Our style, approach and effective
action, has brought new hope to our country. On Saturday we will be
demonstrate the groundswell support that the ID enjoys. In typical ID
fashion, you can expect a few surprises on Saturday, but the biggest
surprise is reserved for Election Day when we will prove our detractors
wrong."
People will be congregating at 11am in Keizergracht Street (next to the Cape Technikon) where they will led by Patricia de Lille, Adv. Lennit Max and an entourage of ID taxis to the Good Hope Centre. The ID will then be holding a rally in the Good Hope Centre at 11:30 am where they will be demonstrating just how they are going to be "rocking the vote" in this upcoming election.
