Statement on SABC/Markinor Survey
2004-11-12. The Independent Democrats is over delighted by the latest results of the SABC/Markinor Poll dated 12 November 2004 which states that the ID is definitely the third largest political party in South Africa.
The survey shows the ID has grown significantly in all nine provinces
and across all racial groups in South Africa, confirming that the ID is
South Africa's only a non-racial opposition political party.
"It is a clear manifestation of hard work we have done over the past eight months. We have been vindicated that our philosophy of being fearlessly independent but involved is what South Africans need," said Patricia de Lille, Leader of the Independent Democrats.
The ID has been involved in three community development projects and campaigns over the past eight months and the survey is a confirmation of the nations approval of the principles the ID stands for.
