Cirota – we want to ‘protect the rights of Ms Tsamai and Mr Harding equally’
10-07-2007, 11H00, Mervyn Cirota, the Chairperson of the National Disciplinary Committee of the Independent Democrats, says he is ‘not going to discuss the details of the charges against Mr Harding.
‘All I am prepared to say at this time is that he has been charged with
a breach of the Sexual Harassment Policy of the ID. The disciplinary
hearing has been postponed until 25 July 2007, to enable Mr Harding to
obtain further information relating to the charges.’
Mr Cirota is speaking in his capacity as the Chairperson of the ID’s National Disciplinary Committee, which was set up by the National Executive Committee of the Independent Democrats in April of 2006. Its membership has remained the same since its inception.
‘It is unfortunate that this has made it into the media. We want to proceed with our internal procedures that protect the rights of Ms Tsamai and Mr Harding equally,’ Cirota says.
