Cirota recuses himself in sexual harassment case against Harding
10-08-2007, 14H00, Mervyn Cirota, the Chairperson of the ID’s National Disciplinary Committee, has recused himself from this position specifically in the sexual harassment case against MP Avril Harding.
'My decision in this sexual harassment case against Harding was taken
in the interests of fair play and justice, two fundamental principles
in the Independent Democrats’ Constitution,’ says Cirota.
‘This issue was raised by Harding’s legal representatives for the first time at the third postponed hearing this morning, in the sexual harassment case against him. This is the second time Harding has failed to attend a hearing.
‘A replacement specifically for the sexual harassment case against Harding will be appointed shortly,’ Cirota says.
