De Lille and Archbishop Ndungane - ‘Breyton’s inclusion will increase our chances of victory’
26-08-2007, 13H30, Joint statement by Anglican Archbishop Njongonkulu Ndungane and ID President Patricia de Lille
‘We sympathise with [the archbishop’s nephew] Akona Ndungane and we
certainly hope that his injury will not have a long-term impact on his
rugby career.
‘We hereby make a passionate plea to Jake White that in the event that Akona is not fit to play in the World Cup, he must please give Breyton Paulse the chance to replace him.
‘Breyton Paulse has always shown the capacity to read the game very well and his incredible performance in spite of the fact that he is smaller than the average player, is proof that the game of rugby also needs brains.
‘We and many other South Africans will be very happy to see Breyton in the World Cup squad. His inclusion will certainly increase our chances of victory.’
