ID President Patricia de Lille says she is ‘happy’ that Pro Sano medical aid has been placed under curatorship.   Ms De Lille, who was approached by a whistleblower in Pro Sano in 2006 who provided her with all the documentary evidence of gross mismanagement, raised the issue with the Registrar of medical aid schemes, a Mr P Mashobe, and requested an investigation.   ‘I also met with the CEOs of Eskom and Telkom because the two parastatals make up a substantial membership of the scheme.   ‘I then released the information to the media and I approached the Minister of Health,’ says De Lille. ‘Only thereafter did the sparks start to fly.   ‘I would like to congratulate and thank the whistleblower for approaching me with the evidence after he struggled for 6 years to get the Registrar to act.   ‘I appeal to the Curator to ensure that the Pro Sano members will soon be healthy again so they do not leave the scheme in droves,’ De Lille says.
