ID welcomes mass exodus from ANC in Blue Downs

Izak Jenner, the ID Western Cape Provincial Chairperson, last night
welcomed a mass exodus from the ANC to the Independent Democrats in
Ward 17 in Blue Downs, including former Deputy Mayor of Cape Town Gawa
Samuels.
‘While one of the new members of the Executive Committee of the new branch is a former DA Councillor,’ says Izak Jenner, the ID Western Cape Provincial Chairperson, ‘every other member of the ID Branch Committee’s 12 members has crossed to us from the ANC.’
‘While the ANC has made a big thing of taking our rotten apples in Drakenstein Municipality, we continue to cut into their support base, welcoming former ANC members and supporters in their thousands,’ Jenner says.
Referring to ANC Provincial Secretary Mcebisi Skwatsha, Jenner says the Independent Democrats is ‘continuing with the ‘de-Skwatshafication’ of the Western Cape.’
The Chairperson of the new branch is former Cape Town Deputy Mayor Gawa Samuels (083 270 2064), the Vice-Chairperson is Graham Roman, the Secretary is Rosalind Adriaanse, the Deputy Secretary is Nazlie Ebrahim, the Treasurer former DA Councillor William Links, Women’s Agenda Organiser Sharlaine Oerson, Youth Organiser Jasmine Jansen, Branch Organiser Shireen Roberts and Additional Members Hamieda Bawa, Jamal Devajee, Iekeraam Samuels and Yolanda Adams.
