Rasool’s major reshuffle puts ‘ANC succession battle before service delivery’ – ID’s Lentit
05-082007, 13H00, The ID’s Western Cape Provincial Secretary, Rodney Lentit has appealed to Premier Ebrahim Rasool ‘to put service delivery and stability in the Western Cape before the ANC’s national succession battle.’
Referring to media reports on Saturday that Rasool was planning a
‘major reshuffle’ of the Western Cape Provincial Cabinet, Lentit said
‘the Premier must not allow the ANC’s national succession crises to
compromise stability and service delivery in our province.
‘The myriad of challenges facing the Western Cape demand stable Government. It is clear that the ANC cannot provide such Government and is more interested in chopping and changing simply to conclude a fresh truce between Rasool and Ngculu,’ says Lentit.
‘This kind of political expediency is not in the interests of the people of the Western Cape. The ID also notes with interest media reports that state that part of the ANC’s strategy is to combat the significant gains made by the Independent Democrats in the province.’
