ID's De Lille calls on Mbeki or Zuma to intervene on inflammatory remarks

22 June 2008 - ID President Patricia de Lille has called on 'either ANC President Jacob Zuma or President Thabo Mbeki to make a decisive intervention to stop the ongoing inflammatory and irresponsible remarks by ANC Youth League leader Julius Malema and Cosatu's Zwelinzima Vavi.'

The statement by the ID Leader comes after Vavi echoed Malema's "kill for Zuma" comments from last week.

'These kinds of inflammatory statements, which also represent an attack on the independence of the judiciary, will do nothing to create responsibility among our people,' Ms De Lille says.

'We cannot allow the comments of two hotheads to incite violence in our society. The President of the ANC or the country needs to condemn their comments strongly and unambiguously.'
