Launch of the Digital Democracy Forum by Patricia De Lille
2003-11-13. I am very excited about this new initiative that we are unveiling today. I am excited because I believe that it represents the future of politics and will change the way that people engage with their politicians. Politicians in this country are too staid in their ways and are too afraid to think out of the box when it comes to connecting with the voters in South Africa. I reject this approach and I welcome any medium that allows voters to express their opinions and make me more accessible to the millions of South Africans out there.
Go for Gold Programme by Patricia De Lille
2003-10-10. Thank you ladies and gentlemen for the opportunity to address you here today. It really is an honour to be addressing such an audience as I feel that you are an inspiration to all of us in this country. To me education is the foundation to all our hopes and aspirations as a nation. Without proper education all our ideals that we fought so long and hard for in South Africa will never be realised.
The Women's Room by Patricia De Lille
2003-10-13. Many things have changed in the area of womens rights over the last nine years of our new democracy. On the international front, South Africans were vocal participants at the Beijing Womens Conference and our parliament has also ratified a number of international conventions concerning womens rights.
South African Press Club by Patricia De Lille
2003-09-03. Thank you Ladies and Gentlemen for this opportunity to address you today. There has been a recent furore over the Arms deal that has brought the whole sorry scandal back into the news again. I feel vindicated in that the allegations that I originally brought up in Parliament way back on the 9th September 1999 are finally being addressed. When will the ANC learn that you can't hide away from the truth. The truth will always catch up with you, no matter who you are.
Independent Democrats Western Cape Launch by Patricia De Lille
2003-09-13. Distinguished guests, ladies, gentlemen and members of the ID, It is indeed an honour and a privilege to be here today and share your excitement at the launch of the Western Cape Provincial executive.
Institute of Credit Management by Patricia De Lille
2003-09-18. Ladies and Gentleman it is a great honour to be addressing the Institute of Credit Management tonight as I consider you to be an important player in the proper functioning of South Africa's economy. I know that you probably don't want to hear a speech about the role of credit in South Africa's economy. You are the experts on this issue and I am just an ordinary member of parliament.
Aardklop Kunstefees, Potchefstroom by Patricia De Lille
2003-09-26. Throughout the world's major regions there has been a consolidation of democratic processes and procedures. In the mid-1970s, over two-thirds of all states could reasonably be called authoritarian.
Malmesbury Agricultural Association by Patricia De Lille
2003-08-07. Thank you Ladies and Gentlemen for this opportunity to address you tonight.
Tribute to our aged by Patricia De Lille
2003-07-09. I want to thank you for this opportunity to address you again today as a patron of Age in Action. It is always a privilege being able to address the elderly in South Africa as I really feel that you represent an important sector of South African society that is presently not given enough respect. I have also begun to notice the appearance of grey hairs on my head so I fear that I’m fast joining your ranks. I think it is just parliament making me old before my time though. The elderly in South Africa are too often marginalised in our society and your contribution to our new democracy is not being appropriately recognised.
Independent Democrats Launch Speech by Patricia De Lille
2003-06-21. I am honoured to welcome you to the inaugural conference of the Independent Democrats.
The role of a responsible opposition party by Patricia De Lille
2003-05-02. Speech at Stellenbosch University. Ladies, Gentlemen and young South Africans: It is indeed a privilege to address you here today.
SA Press Club
2003-04-16. Let me start by thanking you for this opportunity to address you at such an auspicious occasion. I feel that in many ways the job that you do as the press of South Africa is very similar to the job that I am expected to do as an opposition parliamentarian. We are both called upon to hold the government to account and to expose those areas where we believe they are not living up to their responsibilities to the South African public.
