19 June 2008 - The reason for the Independent Democrats' visit to Zimbabwe was to assess the possibility for free and fair elections and to show our solidarity with the people of Zimbabwe. While I had hoped that there was something that could be done to salvage the democratic process in Zimbabwe, I am very sad to say that the conditions are not at all conducive to free and fair elections.
